History
Metro Specialist hospital is located in Sungai Petani. It started
the operation on July 5,1993 as Bersatu Medical Centre (with 2
shop lots and 4 specialists only). It was later named Metro Specialist
Hospital and was officially opened by Dato’ Chua Jui Meng
the Minister of Health on January 18,1996. The hospital achieved
ISO 9001:2000 for provision of hospital services,operation and
management on 18th of April,2002. The certificate award was presented
by Joint Accreditation System of Australia & New Zealand (JAS-ANZ).
On October 19,2002 we proudly opened the doors of our premises
in order to have a more conducive environment to provide its present
services and also to increase further new services. The total
land area is approximately 10 acres. Half of it (i.e 5 acres)
has been converted to commercial (hospital) use. To date, Metro
Specialist Hospital has 20 specialists and 3 residents medical
officer. The hospital consists of a four level building with 120
inpatient beds and more than 24 consultation suites. Our registered
patients are currently more than 85 000. The
specialist clinics are opened from Sunday to Thursday 9.00am to
5.00pm while on Friday 9.00am-1.00pm. The clinics are closed every
Saturday. Lunch break is from 1-2pm. On Saturday, registration
of patients will be done at Accident & Emergency Department.

Metro Specialist Hospital achieved ISO 9001:2000 for provision
of hospital services, operation and management on 18th April 2002.

Newsletter
Metro
News is the bulletin published by Metro Specialist Hospital. It
is published 3 months once which means quarterly per year. This
newsletter contains a lot of information such as doctors write-ups,
health tips, in-house events held at Metro Specialist Hospital
such as blood donations programme, heart care programs, health
talks, tips, up-coming events, the latest services and facilities
provided etc. This bulletin is a free publication. Main objectives
of the publication is to create public awareness regarding health
basically diseases, treatment, medication suggested, prevention
and lots more. Besides that, there is also a space allocate for
those who are interested to advertise their information..more
